Adapt to a healthy lifestyle through a healthy mindset
Our mindsets and perceptions affect how we see the world and ourselves. Our approach can be positive; negative or somewhere in between. I often hear women say ‘I need to lose weight’ or ‘I gained so much weight since having my child’ or ‘I was not born to be thin’ or ‘I cannot afford a new wardrobe’. These statements may reflect how you feel but its negative and suggest that you are not OK. Instead, you can say ‘I can eat healthy’ or ‘I can look my best’.
Our dopamine and serotonin levels drop when we are stressed and anxious. We respond to chronic stress by smoking, drinking or eating unhealthy foods. This can lead to guilt and frustration and keep us entrapped in a negative cycle.
Being healthy is a choice that requires planning and purposeful action on a daily basis. Planning ahead will enable you to buy wisely and prepare a healthy lunch for yourself and your loved ones. Do this twenty-one times and it will become a habit.
Tips for eating clean at work and improving memory and concentration:
- Drink a strong cup of green tea when you wake up.
- Have eggs for breakfast.
- Appreciate blueberries as a mid-morning snack.
- Enjoy a salmon/trout / sardine or chicken salad for lunch.
- Snack on a handful of raw nuts, especially walnuts in the afternoon.
- Enjoy dark chocolate as a treat.
- Drink 2 liters of your favorite flavor chilled herbal tea during the day.
You will get a definite yes if you ask any women if she wants to look and feel great so therefore unite and do this together at work. At meetings or social gathering why not replace the biscuits with fresh fruits or nuts. Invest in a smoothie maker instead of a toaster or a microwave. Get creative with your lunch box snacks and share your ideas. Celebrate achievements together as we are so amazingly unique yet so similar in our needs.
